My First Age - Time of Preparation

My First Age is that of my youth. In this age I developed the skills and knowledge needed to support the maturity and independence that adulthood and Second Age requires. These are the years of mentoring, training and formal education. Where the traditional values, laws, customs, and morality of the generation before me are learned. This is a time of growth and development in my family and community of origin. It contained periods of formalized learning and skills practice and time for discerning what I was attracted to in terms of work/career. Here I felt an initial sense of “vocation” or calling to a particular life style and type of work. Once these lessons were learned I would be initiated into The Second Age.
